Trauma Therapy

I utilize two different kinds of techniques—EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and RTM (Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories)—with clients when there has been a traumatic event. We can discuss which technique is most appropriate for your own personal story.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Used to help move clients through trauma that has been improperly processed. If you have experienced any sort of trauma, from major trauma such as a car accident or sexual abuse, to smaller traumas such as bullying or microaggressions, EMDR can help.

RTM, (Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories)

A protocol created to eliminate the negative symptoms that are part of a PTSD diagnosis by restructuring the traumatic imagery associated with the event.  Most people who complete the protocol obtained a measured loss in PTSD symptoms up to complete elimination of symptoms that resulted in the PTSD diagnosis. RTM is brief, taking only 3-6 sessions. It is drug free, has no homework, and I will make sure that you are made comfortable throughout the process. With RTM, there is no need to completely relieve the trauma. You will always be in control and in charge of the process.

These techniques, along with traditional talk therapy can release you from the underlying stored negative feelings of the past that disrupt your life in the present. This release can give you a better connection to your own mind, body and spirit, and set you on the path to freedom from past damaging experiences.
